The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber acts as a representative of the interests of business in a pluralistic society. It plays a major role in securing a life of freedom and prosperity in a pleasant environment for the citizens of our country.
AUSTRIAN TRADE is, by law, the official Austrian Foreign Trade Promotion Organisation and the largest provider of services in the area of foreign trade.
With a network of 70 Trade Commissions in 58 countries and another 32 marketing offices in new high-potential markets, AUSTRIAN TRADE is uniquely positioned to consult and guide Austrian enterprises worldwide and to find suitable foreign business partners for them.

AUSTRIAN TRADE organizes trade missions and official participations in international trade fairs and provides advice and assistance for inward buying missions.
AUSTRIAN TRADE helps Austrian companies find new contacts and strengthen existing business connections.
AUSTRIAN TRADE publishes foreign trade newsletters, brochures and an Internet eBulletin to promote export opportunities for Austrian companies.
AUSTRIAN TRADE is part of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber system. The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber coordinates and represents the interests of the Austrian business community at a national and international level.
We also act as a central contact platform for companies looking for world-class suppliers and partners as well as for investors wishing to establish in Austria and looking for top-quality business partners.
Main tasks and activities
Representation of membership interests at all levels of government as well as at the European level vis-à-vis European institutions and organisations. By law, national governments are obliged to consult with Chambers on legislative projects and important regulations. In many laws provision is made to involve Chambers in decision-making and administrative procedures.
At the European level the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber is a member of EUROCHAMBRES (the President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Dr. Christoph Leitl, was also President of EUROCHAMBRES until the end of 2005), UEAPME and Eurocommerce as well as numerous sectoral European organisations.
Information and advisory service to members
Typical issues include taxation, labour law, vocational training, industry-specific legislation, industry-wide advertising and market research.
Collective bargaining with unions
Trade associations engage in negotiations with their respective sectoral countrywide union.
Economic Promotion and Development as well as training and consulting are mainly organised by a specialised department in each region (WIFI, Wirtschaftsfoerderungsinstitut).
Austrian Trade - Business Support and Promotion of International Trade is provided by a specialised department at a national level (AWO, AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT ÖSTERREICH), 70 Trade Commissions around the world and a network of specialised experts within all regional Chambers.
